Merle Cohen, LCSW
Merle earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Sociology from Simmons College
and a Master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University. Merle has 35 years of experience
that has encompassed work in education, family service agencies and child guidance settings,
including over 20 years in public schools. She has worked with a culturally diverse population
and with children experiencing anxiety, executive functioning difficulties, social skills challenges
and adjustment to changes in family situations. Merle has first-hand knowledge of educational
systems which allows her to help families navigate and understand how to utilize school
resources.
She believes that children and families do well when given the tools and skills they need to
thrive. She works to provide those tools and strategies through skill based interactive activities
that include creative play, artistic expression, use of literature, directed game based activities,
and mindful practices. Merle is trained as a mindful educator and has completed
ADHD-Certified Clinical Service Provider Training.
